Instructions of the MTS-GUT kit

Description of the kit

MTS-GUT provides the useful materials and instructions for collecting high quality microbial DNA from a fecal sample.
 

Warnings and precautions

1.    FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
2.    Do NOT ingest the stabilizing liquid from the tube.
3.    Wash with water if stabilizing liquid comes in contact with eyes or skin. 
4.    If fecal sample is liquid or donor has diarrhea wait until the next bowel movement to collect the sample.
5.    Small items may pose a choking hazard.
6.    Storage at temperture15°C to 25°C
 

Procedure

IMPORTANT PREPARATIONS
  • Empty your bladder before beginning the collection.
  • Collect fecal sample free of urine or toilet water.
  • Toilet paper or tissues may be required.
1.    Remove the collection tube from package.
2.    Place the decomposable plastic bag over the toilet seat opening under the lid.
3.    Pass the poo sample onto the decomposable plastic bag.
4.    Using the spoon built into the cap of the collection tube, collect small scoops of stool from each end and the middle. 
5.    Replace cap and make sure it is tightly closed.
6.    Shake the sealed tube as hard and fast as possible in a back and forth motion for a few seconds.
7.    Dispose of remaining stool down the toilet. Wrap the decomposable plastic bag and dispose of in a plastic bag.
8.    Wash hands with soap and warm water 
9.    Place the collection tube with the poo sample into the hard protective casing then put it in the zipper bag provided.
10.  Send the sample for processing following the delivery instructions supplied by the kit provider.
